Making wooden dowels the easy way,

make dowels to any size out of any wood types to match your work.

I start by preparing the dowels blanks I have cut them oversize on my band saw but any method you like,
Hammer them through the dowel plate starting with a hole that will take some material off, once you have a round section insert it into your power drill and drill away until you have the size you want then sand it whilst spinning.
As you can see from my photo’s the holes are serrated so when the dowel is being spun the hole act as a saw.

Next How i made the Dowel Plate. I’m waiting for the steel to turn up

I have made a youtube video of the whole process please check it out

Here's another method that would save you having to hammer the blanks first.

Hi Stefang, you dont have to hammer the blank you can round the ends with a knife or chisel and insert them straight into the drill, I showed the process to keep thing nice and easy. but i liked your method
