A buddy of mine is an ol’ surfer dude from way back. When I was making a band saw box a while back, my buddy asked me is I could make him a band saw box shaped like a wave.
This got the “Lets make something new.” juices flowing. I came up with a general wave design shape then glued up some sections of wood to make a block. To add to the wave look, I used plywood in the middle to emphasize motion. The wave design was fun and pretty easy to cut out and finish. I took the project one step further, designing the drawer to look like a surfboard. The drawer pull is a piece of a beech biscuit, sanded down and shaped like a skeg. Thanks to my wife for the idea to use the biscuit.
Let’s face it the drawer isn’t good for much, it’s art.
