I Built this Shinto Headboard from a picture in a magazine. It is built out of Jotoba (Brazilian Cherry) which I have had for years and decided it was time for its use. I finished it with a wipe on Poly (satin) and I am pleased with this type of finish, and want to thank all of you who gave me advice to try this finish. It’s Style is a mix of Arts&Craft and Japanese design (hence the Shinto style).This Jotoba is hard on blades and knives I found out.

Very nicely done, I saw the same ad in an in-flight magazine last summer. Wrote the name of the company down and ordered a catalog from them (for prices, more pictures and design ideas). In case you hadn’t found them, it’s McKinnon Furniture in Seattle, check their website for some great pictures of other Shinto pieces (as well as other styles they have).

Devin, you are right, That’s where I saw this headboard. Ripped it out of the Magazine and had stuffed in my desk for years and finally built it.
