Custom double reed duck call turned out of a piece of resilient, native cedar for the barrel implemented with a brass band and the insert is a piece of Osage orange (bois de’ arc -”Wood of the Bow”) that was giving to me by a great friend.
That piece of Osage Orange log was lying underneath a big maple tree in his backyard and it was placed there over ten years ago. On the ground, in the direct weather for all of those years.
Underneath that terrible looking surface on the log’s face is this color wood that is used in this insert. Very nice looking and still holding it’s yellow looking characteristic that Osage Orange is so known for.
Beautiful wood.
Just thought you guys of that are passionate about woods would appreciate this.

Thats some gorgeous wood. Very nice. You need some audio on here so we can hear what it sounds like :-)
