I thought I’d do a “double duty” with this one—a sign for our picnic and a Summer Awards Project.

I might try it again to see if I can do it better next time but until then, this will be adorning our backyard.

Wood: cedar sign; walnut, pine, and something or other wood (stuff I had kicking around)
Process: scroll saw and pyrography. and intarsia

thanks everyone :)

and I’ll refrain from saying “yah.. until you see it up close”

Seeing it from a distance is great—it looks just like the logo!
It is now hanging up in our gardens.

Yes, I agree with Dennis, you’re woodworking is definitely improving. I like your use of the natural knot hole.

What’s that little thingy hanging from it?

thanks guys. I can’t wait to see all the signs that people have said they are going to make. I will be looking for tips and tricks to improve mine.

Don, it’s a “mosquito house” – my aunt brought it to our LumberJocks’ picnic (woodworking, although she didn’t make it herself)

thank you; thank you.
As we sit outside in the mornings, it is nice to see the sign hanging there. I am going to have to make another one though because I had received a 4×4 post from a freecycler and I wanted to use it to hang the sign, but the post is big and the sign is small and it would disappear.

For the next one, when I get around to it, I’ll actually get wood that is “right” for the project, even though this looks “right” from a distance.

Willow.. hmmm how do I incorporate willow into this… perhaps the plane is made of willow.. yah.. that’s it! :)

FRIDAY: now I can’t stand the wait either!!! I’m terrible at waiting … is it Friday yet?

And then you can make another sign for the shop – Lumberjocks work here.

Way to go Debbie. That is getting in the spirit.

Damn Deb, I’m away for a couple of months and you’ve taken your craftsmanship to a whole new level. I really like this a lot. How do you find the time for this AND the newsletter AND your shop inspections? Is Martin loaning you the LumberJocks corporate jet?

Anyway, very nice work and I look forward to seeing more. Thanks for sharing it with us.

thanks Rob/Chip for your kind words.

Very nice Deb!

You forgot to add intarsia to the list. Sorry I didn’t make a comment earlier.

Its nice to see an old project come out of hibernation.
