The curly maple and purpleheart base was finished with waterbased varnish (to retain the whiteness of the maple) and the zebrawood sides were finished with a tung oil mix. I managed to put on 5 coats of the tung oil mix in 9 hours with the help of a lamp, a fan and the dry air here in northern California.

Hey there Lloyd, great looking tray. The zebrawood gives the sides a curved appearance and the splines in PH are a great idea to keep the mitres tight,
