This toy is based on a project that I think was published in an old Fine Woodworking article but i cant give the reference. I modified it a little adding a plywood fillet to strenthen the cabin which was from a heavy block of old hardwood that had a tendency to split easily along the grain. The front bumper was also my own modification. The tip tray makes a satisfying loud noise when closing down.Is was well recieved by 2 year old Ben.

Nice job. I’m sure he’ll have fun with it. Load him up with these toys, before he finds out what battery operated is. My son has a box full of these that I made him, that hopefully he will pass down to his kids. Thanks for the post.

I made one for my grandson it last a couple days and he was beging me to put it back together. My son said,” Dad, unless you can make it out of steel or plastic, forget it, he’s tuff on his toys.” So much for making toys. But that is a great looing truck. Maybe you’ll have better luck.

Don’t forget to put your name and date on the bottom. His grandkids will appreciate it someday!
