This is a bowl made from wet black oak that was given to me by a friend. It was a gift for my father for fathers day (2009). My dad is in Flodida (I am in NY) and we dont see each other very often. He says he now sees me every day :)

BTW there was quite a pile of shavings on the floor by the time I was done.

Great Looking Gift Bowl.

I really like the natural finish. Turning green wood sure is fun, isn’t it?

Yea, nothing like those long strands flying by your head yard after yard. It’s fun. Less dusty too. Nice bowl.

Thanks Jockmike2, it is a lot of fun, I try to get on the lathe a few times a week. My wife thinks I am crazy and hearing things. We will be in our kitchen early in the morning and I will hear something and say “Is that a chain saw”. I run to find it to get some more wood.

Great bowl! How do you get rid of the savings? I make more savings than bowls!
There must be a market for savings! Great bowl? MARVELOUS BOWL!

Thanks Jamsie for the comments. For the shavings I was talking to a pet shop about donating them but they were affraid of some woods causing reactions in the animals so I passed on the idea. At this point, lets just say I am not on the sanitation workers most favored house to visit.

BTW if anyone has a good idea for wet shavings let me know.
