Test Piece - Kinda

The current project is a larger cabinet to store wine, glasses and other wine related objects. In other words a Cellarette. This cabinet will hold 24 bottles of wine in four upright racks.

In addition to this, I wanted to see what the timbers to be used would look like on one piece, these being Silky Oak and American Walnut. So as to get a visualisation of the structure of the racking and the appearance of the piece I decided to make a test piece.

Rather than make a test piece from ply or MDF, I chose to make it from the timbers themselve. Quite quickly I realised that this piece was going to look pretty good as a stand alone piece so I put some effort into its finishing.

So here it is. It will stay behind when the cabinet goes to its eventual home (not mine) and will probably suit us better as I don’t drink Alcohol at all and my wife not much.

Hope you like it.
