Made of laminated wood (Cherry & maple), walnut, and maple (the maple ones shown in the pic. are unfinished – a few coats of poly would do the job). Except the one with the golden scoop, all were turned free hand without referring to a template, so all handles are not identical.

Great job. They all are good looking. but I like the walnut best.( partial to the darker woods )

Keep it up.

Thanks for the positive feedback.

Innovator: You can get the golden scoop kit from Rockler ($11 US plus shipping); chrome ones sell for a few bucks more. However, since it’d cost me an arm and a leg to get those kits across the border (due to prohibitive shipping cost), I came up with a much cheaper alternative: I found the chrome scoops ($5 Cdn on sale) from a local kitchen / home decor retailer (Sears sell similar scoops but for a few bucks more). I suppose Walmart and others also sell scoops. Dollar stores carry really cheap flimsy ones – avoid them at all costs.

I used my grinder to remove the rubber handles and recover the scoop hardware. If the tang of the scoop is too large, you can grind it down and drill a hole on your blank that fits it. If needed, use a metal file to get the best fitting. I used epoxy glue to attach the scoop to the handle (after the handle was turned, sanded and finished).

Those are great. I collect the old Hamilton Beach malt machines. Maybe I should get with it and try something like that. I could use about that many.
