I was asked to make a frame for my In-laws anniversary. All the trim in their house is oak, or at least stained a color matching the oak. So I chose oak. I wanted something with a little more character though, and picked some curly oak up. I knew I wanted to have some accents, but didn’t know what and found some Padauk and thought it would accent well; it does. It’s a 16×20 and holds a picture that my sister in law took. The frame is half-lapped, because I have have to transport it to Canada and didn’t want my miters splitting. The inlays were cut with my dozuki and 1/4” chisel. I had some tearout on my last pass through the planer and was able to fix it to an acceptable level (thanks to all the guys that gave some ideas there).
Comments, critiques, suggestions are more than welcome!

Beautiful Frame!
Your choice of finish/wood really compliments the picture, too.

That is a beautiful frame and the paduak accents were a nice addition that add visual interest to the frame. I have never had the chance to work with curly oak but it appears to have quite a bit of character.

This is the only other piece of curly RED oak I have seen. It is a high detail wood, with a lot of charector.
The frame is very well done. The paduk accents give it more pop then just the frame alone. Great choice of woods and great construction. All in all beautiful art work.
Keep it up.
