This is a roll top desk that I just finished for my wife. We wanted something to go by the door for mail, keys and other misc stuff and I couldn’t locate what I wanted for what I was willing to pay ( Isn’t that how we all get in trouble with our projects??) It is made from birch, baltic birch plywood and sapele for the accenting. It is finished in 3 coats of poly.
Design wise I used full extension slides, built full depth drawer boxes and even made a little secret compartment on the top utilizing that otherwise wasted space behind the roll top. I used the Amana tambour router bit set (review posted) and that made life a lot easier to make the tambour. I still have some of the organizing compartments to make to go in the top but that is going to be a separate project.
