I built these matching stands about 3 years ago. The first was a DVD holder, with shelves spaced so a standard DVD case would just fit, but have enough room for a finger to tip it out from the top. It has 4 shelves, and can hold a total of about 60 DVD’s. I built these for my wife when her DVD collection started to overflow it’s original hiding area!
I then made a matching stand to hold CD’s (pic 4). This stand has 5 shelves (since the CD cases are much smaller than DVD’s! It holds 100 CD’s (or other items as you can see in the pics!!!)
Both stands are made of pine, with beveled top and base edges (45 degree bevel bit). I don’t think you can see them in the pics (must get better camera one day!) but the front outer edges on both stands have a 45 degree bevel as well, that stop about 2 inches from top and bottom. Gives it a nice effect. Screwed and glues, with screws being hidden by dowels, and sanded smooth.
Both stands have a colonial finish (seems to be a pattern on most of my projects, but I’m starting to deviate now that we are in a new house).
