Cedar Outdoor Table

Project by Nicholas Dillon posted 128 days ago 484 views 1 time favorited 8 comments Add to Favorites Watch

This is my first woodworking project. It is a cedar table top that I made for one of my mom’s neighbors. It is made out of red wood cedar and took me about 3 days. The original table had a glass top but it was broken. What do you think?

-- My workshop is a 8 x 8 shed! No Joke!

Looks great. Excellent use of recycled material. If anything, I would say that the apron is a little “heavy” or wide for the legs. Maybe a little curve would soften it up. Welcome to LJ!

Yeah, this is really nice. Wanna try something different? Put the center slate on a 45 degree angle to the edging. Or go for a sunburst? Also consider (cuz you will do this again!!!) consider using aniline dyes to really add color and make the grain pop right off the table! Can you imagine an outdoor sunburst table in oranges, reds and yellows?

Hey Nicholas,
This may be your first table but from what you have learned with this one, you will get better….well done.

-- I will just keep doing it till I get it right.
