A few months ago, I completed a headboard as the first part of our bedroom suite. You can see it here.
I have now finished the first dresser. There will be one more dresser and 2 night tables with drawers before the whole bedroom suite is done. Been a bit slow going as other projects seem to keep getting in the way.
Anyway, walnut with a stripe of zebrawood inlayed into the top drawer faces.
The drawer faces have a bevel cut on the top as a finger grip to open. The drawer boxes are yellow birch, rabbeted together and pinned with walnut dowels. The top is 1 1/8” thick but I cut a bevel on the underside so that it doesn’t look too heavy. Glued pocket hole joinery for most of the carcass. The toe kick is back about 1 1/4” so it doesn’t seem to sit to heavy. Blum drawer slides are what the wife wanted. I was prefering wooden slides, but what wifey wants, she gets!
Hope you like it. The flash on the camera make the grain really apparent but you’ll have to take my word that in person it is more subtle than the pics make it look. The wood sure has nice grain IMO though.

yeah – nice job here. “so it doesn’t seem too heavy” lol – but it probably is really heavy huh?
the zebra is a nice touch, but that strip could have been anything really – just being there all subtle and minimalist is perfect.
so what is this finished with?

Yes, nice grain, and really nice job aligning the wood grain on the drawer fronts… that caught my eye immediately. Then to add the zebrawood stip… very nice.
