Project Information

This is my second music stand made from myrtle and walnut. It was a challenge to myself to see if I could make a music stand you could adjust with one hand. I just about got it, but I got a little lazy with the lifting part, you still have to use two hands for that.

It is seen with a bench, but I will save that for another project post. The top swivels in the base and it has a ratcheting armature that holds the face in place to angle the book and with the push of a button you can lower it back down using one hand. The notched arm is made from laminated maple. It breaks down into two pieces to ship, if I were to do it again I think I might make it more collapsible. I included some pictures of the back with a tape measure if it helps someone to try to make a similar mechanism.

I had posted a video years ago of it, forgive the quality it is a bit grainy and the music is awful but licence free. I don't like copy right violations. I had a lot of fun making it and hope to make some more music stands in the future. Thanks,

Its so beautiful! My accordion playing would improve just by being in the same room with it.

Beautiful work. I especially like the one hand functionality.
