I took another hunk of my dry apple wood which has a rotten core and turned this vase. Because the inside, in parts, was rotten I used a wood hardner on the knotted area because I wanted to get the wall to 1/4 inch and didnt want to break through at the knot. Sorry, but hard to see the detail but it turned out very well with just a few peek holes through the knot but it stayed together. I turned a simple walnut base to finish off the rotten area at the bottom for a base.

Can’t imagine how you can turn a beautiful piece such as this without it shattering… practice?

Very nice. Getting rid of the bad center was a clever idea. Lovely vase.
