This is one of the first projects I did specifically for me. I wanted to be able to display my growing collection of Pewter pieces and saw this design in one of my magazines.
It now resides in my den, just to the right of me as I type and has darkened nicely over the four or five years.
Note: the Pewter collection has grown nicely so time for a new cabinet!!!
Note: Last two pictures are showing how the Cherry has darkened over a few years

Don, this is a really nice cabinet. I must confess that this looks exactly like my first cabinetry project that I attempted. But I never got around to completing the face frame on the cabinet. I was so disappointed in the way this project was going that my unfinished cabinet ended up being used as a plant stand on our deck. Yours, obviously, turned out much better.
How did you finish the cabinet?

Thanks.
The hardest part was building a house with square corners around the cabinet :o)
All I used on it was Tung Oil.
I’ll take another picture of it to show how nicely the Cherry has darkened over the years.

Nice cabinet. i use Tung Oil a lot; I like the way it goes on, draws the grain out nicely, and seems to give the wood a nice soft yew to it. Very nice.
