My daughter-in-law’s step dad saw a chess board I made for my son’s wedding and wanted me to make him one for a chess set he had lying around.
Board is Walnut and Maple
Base is made from Mahogany with a touch of Wenge as an accent.

Very nice work. Love the chess set. Also really like the drawer where every piece has it’s own spot. Thanks for posting it.

For a finish, I rubbed in three coats of Boiled Linseed oil followed by three coats of wax.
