I built these upholstered benches around 9 months ago for my Aunts kitchen. I believe this was the first project I built with mortise & tenon joinery. It was also the first and only time I’ve upholstered anything. You can find the detailed build album here:

beautiful!! what did you use for the cushion material? I have to build some for my father-in-law.

I used the foam out of an old box spring. It was nearly 3” thick and still in great shape.

I really like those. From the blog I see you used SYP, did you dry it any? What I find at the box stores is very wet still.

It didn’t dry long in my shop. If you check Lowes often there will he times when you can find dry clear boards. Once you lamente your legs together they become more stable as well. Now I only buy the 2×12x16s. You can get those with almost 0 knots.
