Hello Folks: This is a table I built for a friend at work. He is a huge Illini fan, and has terminal cancer. I used recycled bleacher wood for the entire project. The wood came from our local private catholic school where I work at, as well as the Dominican Sisters Convent. The hardest part was making jigs to rout out the curved letters. The wood was very brittle and had alot of dried gum which still had some flavor left in it (lol). I inlaid a 12” magnet of the chief into the center and covered the top with clear coat epoxy. All the orange lettering and the main blue circles are latex paint mixed with water putty filler. I wrote a prayer for my friend and his family, rolled it up, and put it inside one of the legs. He liked the table.
GOD BLESS and THANKS

great job K-Hop…. your friend is a lucky guy to have a friend like you put his thought into a great project like this. I’m not sure why you took the gum off the bottom though… would have made it a lot more authentic to a real sports fan … :)

Khop, May I ask where did you get the Chief decal? I am looking for one but don’t know where to find one as the Chief is no longer an official mascot of U of IL.

SimonSKL, I ordered the 12” Magnet from T.I.S.College Bookstore. Just google Chief Illiniwek magnet and you can find it that way. Sorry I don’t know how to add a link. Good Luck
