A 4” wooden ball, hollowed to less than 1/8” thick, carved, burned, pierced, colored and sitting on top of a coiled alumnium spring. Weighs less than one ounce.

Wow, that is incredible. Was this a commission with a purpose or just an abstract idea? It is really striking. Excellent job.

I wanted to do a sphere pierced to a pattern. I could not draw what I wanted so I cut what I could. I’ve since figured how to draw what I wanted

I made it in two pieces, hollowed it out then glued it together. It was critical to follow the template to the tee. Sort of cheating on hollowing, but I wanted it very uniform so the piercing would go well. I’m also using up blocks of Mahogany I took off a demo site.,
