Thanks to all those LJs that have helped me with this project and posted pics of their cutting boards as inspiration. This was a fun project and very rewarding to the point where I can’t wait to start another one. This is walnut, cherry, and the thin strips are hickory. The board was supposed to be 10×17 and ended up being 9×14 when it was all said and done after multiple glue ups and fixes.

Thanks for looking.

Chris,
This is a beautiful board. I would be proud to have such a board in my kitchen.

Any problems you had putting it together will only leave you better prepared for the next one.

Thanks for sharing this.

Have a great day.

Chris,

Stellar job on the cuttin’ board…I like the wood combos…A nice contrast. One of the better-looking boards I have seen…Sometimes I think these boards on here are too fancy, but that’s just me….Keep churnin’ ‘em out…

Good looking board. The first of many I’m sure.

Chris, Great Cutting Board…....you have inspired me…...I will attempt to make one at some stage.
I love the colour combination of the wood. What kind of finish did you apply?

Kind regards,

Cliff.

Thank you all for the compliments! I really appreciate it.

Cliff … I used Howards Butcher Block Conditioner: http://www.amazon.com/Howard-BBC012-Butcher-Conditioner-12-Ounce/dp/B001ESTA30

Its available at Home Depot and Amazon for the same price if you have prime. I read a bunch on how to make my own but I opted for this because all the different opinions got so confusing to me and this product got great reviews. I really liked how well it turned out and it was easy to work with.
