While traveling I found a desktop zen garden at a tourist attration. Of course when I saw how simple it was I knew I could make one myself. So I did.
It’s made from recycled redwood I found in an old cabinet which probably hasn’t seen the light of day in 50 years. Some sanding brought back the color from the blackness it once was. I chose a simple angular design because it seemed more true to the peaceful mood I wanted to create.
I also made two small rakes meant to draw designs in the sand. I simply found some branches outside and made them by eye. Some playground sand and small round rocks were then added. It is quite peaceful to slowly draw on the sand while concentrating on my breathing. I plan to put it on my desk beside the computer as a reminder to take more breaks. The cat enjoys it too.

KOOL, but I’d keep an eye on the cat near the sand box! I’m sure he likes it:-))

I didn’t know zen would grow inside. Do you fry or bake it?
Great project. I bet you’ll have requests for these.
