Pagoda Box , enlarged

Project by Dan Pleska posted 130 days ago 574 views 4 times favorited 21 comments Add to Favorites Watch

I liked the pagoda box, but wanted to enlarge it. This is my attempt. The box is 11” x 5” x 4 1/2” high. The lid overhangs about 1” on the long sides and 1 1/2” on the short sides. The box is curly maple with a cherry top and cocobolo handle. It’s finished with wipe-on poly. I’ll probably use Danish Oil to pop the grain the next time I make one from curly maple, then finish with poly.

Nice job, Dan. That’s not your shop, is it? Valley Woodworkers’ Club shop? Anyway, great looking boxes!

Great box. Love the oriental, pagoda look. Clean lines and great choice of woods.

Keep it up.

Planesmooth,

I can’t take credit for the design. It is adapted from a Wood Magazine plan. They have a free video that shows how it’s made. You’ll have to order the plans for all the detail, but they’re only $5.00 as I remember. I had to change the jigs a little for my enlarged design. Thanks for looking.
