We just bought this house, the living room is an add on.In the middle of the wall was a door going into the laundry room. It was quite ugly, noisey, and broke up the flow of the living room.So this is my solution ! Made of maple veenered 3/4 mdf, with homemade maple edgebanding.

Great idea. How well does it work when it’s loaded?

It`s heavy, attached with 3 hinges. It swings open nice and smooth. I have it fully loaded and not a rattle of anything on it—thank goodness !!!

Good idea Ron. I was thinking of doing something like this for the office in my basement. Any hints on what kind of hinges to use?

I used heavy duty gate hinges 4 inch, and considering it`s all 3/4 MDF maple veneer it`s heavy. I believe the weight helps it swing out nice and smooth, everything stays on the self, no problem at all.
