This is a 14’x26’ deck I just finished yesterday. Since it was 9’ off the ground, I had to get an extra set of hands for this one. It took me 3.5 days to finish. I used 2×12’s for my joists on 16” centers to make sure I took all the bounce out of it. It ended up super strong. This one also has a huge set of steps on it, 6’ wide. With the deck being so high off the ground, I used 6×6 posts. Some decks have a large board on top of the handrail called a “beer rail”, this rail is capped with a 2×8 big enough for a beer keg. With these large posts, 2×12 joists and 2×6 decking, this one’s not going anywhere for a long, long time.

Only had 1 other guy helping on this one. Combined we have about 15 years of carpentry experience. With the know-how and a little motivation, you can get a lot done in 3.5 days, and yes, there was beer of course.
