I built this deck. It is an hour away so I was not going back to get more pictures, but it looks almost as good in the daylight.
The deck boards, deck rails, and stair treads are garden grade redwood. The structural posts, deck rail posts, stair jacks, ledgers and beams are construction grade redwood. The lattice is made of 1-1/2 inch by 3/8 inch redwood slats. The stairs have a concrete landing at the base. The Homeowners ordered rod iron stair rails, to be installed by the welder.
An interesting fact about the gates was that they were supposed to be rod iron, part of the stair rail order. Mrs Homeowner had me build the pictured gates out of extra material because they did not want to be gateless while they waited for the rod iron. She liked the lattice gates well enough that they decided to nix the rod iron gate.
Note the straight and parallel rows of stainless steel deck screws. They are installed on layout. I think they look better that way.
It is finished with Thompson’s water sealer.
Thanks for looking!
