Well I spend most of the morning fine tuning the wooden plane, more time than I thought it would take. The mouth had to be widen due to the very thick blade and cap of the Hock Blade. The blade need some fine tuning over the factory edge, but this was no problem. The blade can definitely hold a mirror finish and sharp edge. I used maple, curly maple and cherry with a walnut laminate glue up for the sample cuts and WOOSH! Very fine and smooth finish to the touch. With a hand full of shaving and a quick rub the finish was glass like. I will definitely post a favorable review for the Hock blade soon. Thanks again for showing a interest in this build it was fun and most important a new tool for the shop….Blkcherry

Looks great. I want to try my hand at making a plane or two. Did you use plans?
How does it cut?
The mouth looks quite wide, is that what was called for, would a norrower opening be prefered on this type of plain? Thanks.

It looks great BC, the back end looks very comfortable to hold, how is it in use? Maybe a chance you could post a qucik video of you using it?

looks beautiful – execution and the design both look top notch. I like the curved front and back.
looking forward to hearing about how it performs in use.

I dig that ChrisCraft Runnabout thing you have going with the profile of the tool. Nice lines indeed. So how does it work? Make any shavings with it yet?

Hello all and thanks for the comments. The main question is how dose it perform. Before I can use the blade the throat opening has to be file out so that the blade can protrude. This has been a tedious operation due to the Hock blade being so thick. I used the blade with the factory edge and the shaving were way to thick. Today I plan on sharping and fine tuning the wedge it appear to be to long in length. Will post pick with results soon thank for viewing. Blackcherry
