This is a clock that I made some time back. I got the design from Popular Mechanics Mission Furniture: How To Make It book. I thought it would be a good seller but as it turned out it was not. My daughter requested it for Christmas last year and her request was granted. It is made from Qtr. Sawn White Oak. Front and back are 1/2” thick and center is laminated 3/4” x 3” wide stock. The design in the book called for a copper face, but I had some sheet brass so I used it, besides it matches the insert. The overall dimensions are 6” tall and 8” wide. It has a red Mahogany oil stain with a lacquer finish.

isn’t it interesting how somethings are overlooked by “the buyer”. I guess it goes back to the old “beauty in the eye of the beholder” thing—you just have to find the right eyes to look at it.
LOVE the front!!! Nice

Excellent work Max. How did you make the cutouts? (bandsaw, jigsaw, scrollsaw?)

It has an Art Deco look. Art Deco is hot – maybe you should try again and make sure you describe the genre as AD. Ebay perhaps?

DrSawdust – I made the cutouts on the wood with the table saw and the band saw, on the brass with aviation snips. Thank you for the compliment.
Don – I did try it on eBay, but did not describe it as Art Deco, maybe will go back at it…
