I wanted to build a salt cellar box with a swivel lid, but didn’t want to see any evidence of the swivel mechanism. My solution was to embed a hex nut in the lid, and a bolt in the box, both secured with epoxy. Here’s the write up I did, showing the build process and descriptions:

Wonderful little box. The birds eye looks great with the walnut.

Nicely done and thank you for the how-to info on your site. I am just starting a swing top jewelry box for my granddaughter and was wondering how I would build the hinge. You information solved that problem for me!
