I made this out of 1 pc. of 1×8 jatoba, about 7 feet long
the legs are laminated together. the Top is 2 pc. 1×8 edge glued with an Ogee bit run around the edge
The skirt and legs are Mortise and Tenon joinery. And the top is held on by 4 figure 8 fasteners.
This is my 2nd project, the first is a mirror made from another peace of the same wood. Its not done yet
i keep the 12’x12’ peace of .5’ float glass on it, that is one of my tools though, I use it to sharpen my chisels
i think the table top is 13’x16’ if i remember corectly, and i think its about 22’ tall i dont have a tape handy
i used google sketchup to design it, took a couple days in sketchup to figure out the best way to cut my 1 board.

here is a link to the file
the tools i used
a skill saw, router table, various straight edges, a drill, belt and random orbit sanders.
Clamps n glue. 8 screws and 4, figure 8 fasteners
I think it turned out pretty good for what it is
the finish is about 3 coats of General Finish Seal a cell Clear and some Formbys tung oil finish(its not tung oil its a wipe on poly) its pretty shiny, its all wiped on, no drips or runs

Mike, this is a nice looking table. I like the edge detail on the top. It adds a nice detail to the table. Nice job on the finish as well.
Jatoba is a nice wood to work with but, with its silica content, it is hard on tools.

link to the sketchup file if any one is interested
i designed the table first then after laying out the cuts i figured i didnt have enough wood to do it exactly
yes the Jatoba was extreamly hard allmost like metel, it has a high pitch sound to it when you tap it with something
but it was fairly easy to work with just make sure every thing is kept sharp

Very nice & simple table… down to earth…
”the finish is about 3 coats of General Finish Seal a cell Clear and some Formbys tung oil finish(its not tung oil its a wipe on poly) its pretty shiny, its all wiped on, no drips or runs”... and no errors.
Good job!
