Project Information
This is the first chess table I have attempted and I was very nervous going into it. This is 90% solid hardwood and 10% veneer, bendable plywood and Walnut ply.
For the table sides, I used the bendable plywood covered with a Walnut veneer. My neighbour has a veneer vacuum press set up so I borrowed that. Built a form first and then took everything next door for the vacuum pressing. It was a learning experience for both of us.
The hardest part was the drawers for me. I don't know that I would attempt another round table or not. Prefer nice square objects
Sanded to 600 and finished with 4 coats of Polyurethane and 4 coats of Wipe On Poly.
Questions and comments are always welcome.
Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow Canucks out there!
