Project Information

One of my landscaping customers had a couple large branches fall from her Maple tree and asked me to get rid of them. My first intention was to use it as firewood, but i forgot to take them out if my bed until the next day when I got to work, and this is what happened.

With the snow soon to be falling (hard to believe, right?) II decided to use the branches for a shoe rack for my wife's shop, so her clients have a place to put their wet snowy shoes to dry off.

I cut the branches in half using our Laguna 14-12 bandsaw. Next, I built a simple frame using strips of PT 5/4" decking. A few long finish nails hold each piece in its spot, with room in between each little log for the water to drip through. Finished it off with some spray paint on the bottom and multiple coats of spray on Lacquer.

Overall size is roughly 14" deep x 24" long, just big enough for 2 pairs of large boots or 3 pairs of little shoes!

Thanks for looking, comments welcome!

This may look simple to some but I'm thinking that if it were made to look fancy the dirty water from the melting snow wold make it look like it needed cleaning. But who cares about branches being clean???? That is a great idea Tooch!
