Absolutely the best way to make sawhorses, so strong, sturdy and easy to replace a top piece leg if they get damaged. I’ve built at least a hundred sets in my lifetime and these are by far the best style! I usually add a piece of 2×6 for a second top surface and let it hang over on both ends an inch or two so I can get a clamp on them.

These are exactly what I made for my ‘shop.’ They are awesome. The I-beam style is perfect for clamping and legs can be removed to turn the I-beam upside down once the top side wears out.

The plans I followed have the top and bottom pieces of the I-beam extending past the center piece so that you can also use clamps on the end.

I’ve seen more beautiful sawhorses for sure, but nothing beats this design for function and utility…imho. You’ll get lots of use out of these baby’s for sure, nice work.

Have your say...
