I built this box for my stepmother on her 60th birthday.
The wood is highly figured birds eye maple, with red meranti.
The leg design is borrowed from another project I did (see Jewelry box), the handle is my own design.
The finish is BLO and wipe on poly.
I used small rare earth magnets to hold the lid in place. In hind-sight, I would have hidden those, or used another method.

That is some beautiful maple! Nice choice of woods,they compliment each other nicely.I really like your design and finish.
