I made this shadow box for a friend of mine who retired from the military not long ago. He wanted a shadow box just big enough to fit all his badges but did not want the typical shadow box with the flag inside. It is made out of cherry and i mitered the corners and added walnut splines for look and strenght. The finish i used is Waterlox original. I had to redo the back twice as the fist one shrank on me over night. I had layered 1/4 inch cork, 1/4 inch cardborad and 1/8 MDF. I think what happened was that the different type of material and all the wood glue when driying made it warp. So when i redid it i just put cork and thick cardboard from a office board. My buddy was really happy thats all it matters.

This turned out very nice.

The splines really make it look nice.
