A friend of mine with good intensions by getting ready for Christmas early asked if I’d make some toys for her grand kids. As a result I made six Indy cars and a dump truck. I had made the cars before as a project in my woodshop classes. The yellow car was in Better Homes and Gardens Wood magazine on page 8 of the October 1997 issue where Jim Downing is holding my entry in the build a toy contest. Didn’t win anything but I sure liked the recognition. The dump truck is an original design that worked out ok. Got the basic Idea from a picture of a pedal driven one I found googling dump trucks. Made from sugar pine (my favorite), a little Durhams rock hard wood putty and paint. The decal on the dump truck was made from word art and the decals for the indy cars came from decals made for rc cars by Autographics.

Not a fan of raceing, but I love your cars!
My grandson would just love that dump truck also. I like the way you made the box dump and the tailgate? open. Keep up the great work. I’m sure the kids will just love them.

Great toys!! I was thinking about making some for my grandkids but yestrerday we were there for the 4th. I saw a lot of plastic toys laying around. I have begun to wonder if it’s worth the effort to make anything that is common??? Hope they use them.
