I’ve always like the Aztec designs. I got a hold of a drawing and converted it into a dxf file I could work with on the computer. took 40+ hours of cad work and 5 hours of carving to get to this point… had a lot of interest and sold it first day at the craft fair. now that the hard part is done I’ll cut another for the next fair.

Nice Job! Looks authentic. I wish I had the time and patience to try something so intricate. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Very Nice work. I don’t know what you had to do in your CAD program, But I may know away for you to cut your time down from 40hr of work to 1 min with a dxf file. What CAD program do you use?

thats for the codos…
talyn, I use Rhino for most of my cad work… I also use Eroute Pro for tool pathing. most of the 40 hours was on cleaning up the vectors so I had as clean of file as possible. I now have that file saved in dxf formate so next time is will just be a quick rescale and then the cutting.
you web sight looks great. looks like you use the vectric3d files like me sometimes. is the clear reliefs just acrylic?

isnt wood :) kind of… MDF with a antic bronze finish over it. disk is 4 foot across so I didnt figure I could get away with gluing up solid wood.

Okay Cool, Now I understand the 40hr. That’s a very tedious job cleaning up vectors.
Yes I cut the design in Plexiglas In revers from the way I cut it in wood, So it would have a 3d look in the Plexiglas when I look at it from the uncut side.
Great job and very nice finish
