Hi Guys, I started this project a while back now intending to make a set of three, those being 3/4”, 1” and 1 1/4” wide.(to complement a 1 1/2” wide Norris style infill I made 6 or 7 years ago)

http://www.finewoodworking.com/item/103454/rosewood-brass-and-steel-shoulder-plane

This is the prototype which is 1” wide, the plane itself is based on the Spiers shoulder plane with steel dovetailed sides and sole . The infill is coralwood that was left over from another project.

The three that I have started to make will have Brazilian rosewood infill that I was lucky enough to have purchased from a luthier over ten years ago.

I will start a blog if anyone is interested into what is involved in making an infill plane.

Thanks for looking
Keith

Blog away! Plane looks great. I’d like to build an infill shoulder plane. Fellow LJ Ripthorn did a blog about how he built one, and it would be interesting to see what you may do differently to achieve the same result.

Very nice looking plane Kieth.
Great fit on the steel dovetails, almost invisible.
