Chess Board

Chess board for a client. She has 3.5” antique pieces so i opted to do 1.75” squares with a 1.5” frame. Modest curve to the edges with a spline. Sanded to 220 and finished with several coats of glossy poly. It’s been a long time since i’ve used poly and I must admit I don’t miss it – a very finiky finish but it turned out okay. I’m not sure you can really tell from the photo, but I had some nice figure in both the maple and walnut that I was able to maintain for a nice “flow” look. I think she’ll be happy with it.

Thanks for looking.
Betsy

I like those corner splines as they add character to a beautiful piece.
