a box from fine woodworking

The box is 1 of my first Sirius project, the plan it’s from fine woodworking, and its change little, and I use my time on it and its com out whirl good. Its birch and the handle are some wood I don’t know what is.

I’ve got some mystery wood that is just beautiful to carve but I do not have a clue as to what it is. I plan to make a box out of it and see if I can find somebody who can determine what kind of wood it is. -- ...it's rennovation time!!!
