I share my shop with many other things (since it is our two car garage), and just one of those is my son’s toy collection. Amongst that collection is a growing rainbow of sidewalk chalk. So much so, that I came out one day to find that he had done his Dad the huge favor of making my table saw outfeed table “look pretty”. God bless him!!
Anyway, to house this growing chalk collection, I built this box. Its cheap and simple, b/c I know it is going to get beat up. 3/4” MDF (I HATE MDF), with a 1/4” plywood bottom (salvaged from the crate a TV came in), and rope handles. Final dimensions are about 9”x7”x4-1/2”. Eventualy it will get paint with KILZ, as I don’t know any paint on MDF that could withstand my son better than that.

hey derrek, you might even let your son get in on the fun. a can of chalkboard spray paint on top of that kilz might make for a nice custom “junior-style paint” job? i bet you wouldn’t have to ask him twice!
