This was the third project I built – about 6 months ago. Oak from home depot made prior to the purchase of my table saw. Legs are glued together 1X3’s while the top is 1X4. Also, didn’t know how to properly attached the base to the top so I ended up gluing them togther….hope there’s not much wood movement. Finished with a couple of coats of wood stain and then a clear poly. Thing is as solid as a rock.

Looks like an elephant could stand on it!

Here is some info on attaching table tops. (I prefer #2):

Very nice looking table, I like how you put those matching boards on both sides on the top, very cool looking affect. Good looking build.

Appreciate the kind comments…honestly think some of you guys are paid to make a guy feel good!

Charlie – thanks for the link….had actually found that a while back when I realized there must be a better way to attach than through glue.

Happy 4th of July to all!

Did you laminate solid oak to make the legs? This is the same basic table we use in our general shop class as a year end project. However I have them make L shaped legs. This allows the kids to make the table in 4 sections and then glue sections together. I give them the option of setting the legs inside the aprons which looks similar to your design, or using pocket holes to make everything flush. I do like your top also. Good job.
