From the Pixar movie Cars, this is “Mater”. I carved him from basswood for a friend. All parts are hand carved, except the tow rope, the eyes, and a few metal hooks for accessories. The rearview mirrors are made from bamboo skewers.

I really appreciate your comments. I’m especially happy with my Mater. There were MANY hours invested in this project. I even had 2 ER visits hahaha.

Outstanding work. That one belongs on a safe shelf, but then there would be no fun playing with it. Excellent job!

I’ve got a nephew that would love to have that! Great carving!

My son would love you forever for one of those. Of course, he’d probably break it in the first 5 minutes also. Cars is his favorite movie.

I can recite the entire movie from memory, I bet… We had to limit my guys to one viewing per day for quite a while. They would love this one, nice work!
