here is my router table i made from a cabinet i found at a garage sale for $5. you can see what i started with in the picture. i pulled the face frame off the cabinet and made a new one rearranging the door and drawer and opening up some more storage space as well as modifying the inside to seperate the sides and modifying the shelves. i laminated 2 pieces of MDF for the top and sealed them with shellac. it didnt come out as great as i wanted especially the shellac finish as it was my first time using it and i didnt know you were supposed to thin out the can store bought stuff so it went on real thick and showed all the brush marks. theres about 12 coats on the top because i kept sanding through trying to smooth it out. anyways the router plate i got from MLCS. all told i have about $60 into the cabinet including the router plate, mdf, power cord, shellac and everything else. i use a jointed 2×4 as a fence and just clamp the ends to the front and back of the cabinet. i stand on the side with the power ooutlet when im using it so im right by the switch to turn it off and on and unplug it to make changes, etc. anyways its ugly but it works well
