This is a 9 1/2” x 2” Cherry bowl that was made out of discarded slab wood. It is finished with Danish Oil and clear lacquer on the outside and Watco butcher block finish on the inside so it can be used for food.

This is to be a housewarming gift for a house not yet built. We had our June Guild cookout at the site of John Pflug’s new house and he also has a Woodmizer on the site with which he is cutting all the wood for his new house and barns. That night he cut a number of cherry logs for guild member who wanted any of the wood. I took one of the thicker slabs off the scrap pile and got 3 bowl blanks out of it, this being the biggest. This bowl will be presented to John at the board meeting this Wed. night.
Cheers, Jim

Jim, I think you must be the Chairman of the Board. Great job and nice gift.

That’s a pretty big chunk o’ wood to be thrown away! Good job finding it and making a sweet bowl.

Great piece of wood and a beautiful Bowl.

Bob.

-- Bob, Western Australia, The Sun came up this morning, what a great start to the day. Now it's up to me to make it even better. I've cut this piece of wood 4 times and it's still too damn short.

Thanks Pointer and Bob.

Hi Bob, that wood dried out pretty well in 4 months but it sure was warped. the other two bowls are egg shaped and I hope they clean up with a 7/8” wall.

Cheers, Jim
