Another project for the upcoming garage sale. This box is 8 1/2” x 5 1/2” x 3” and is made from poplar and aromatic red cedar.
First try at an inlaid spline, my alignment was a little off but will fix that next time. Overall very pleased with this one. The cedar and poplar contrasted better than expected.
Finish is wipe on satin poly and inside lined with cardboard backed felt.
All comments welcome.

Hey James
This is one cool box I like the doubling of corner miters colors on the joinery.

I signed in to say how much I liked this. I love the colors and the design. I can’t tell if the outer splines are off, but the inner ones being a bit off – to me – looks like a design decision. The rest of the box is so clean and uniform, it looks like they’re made a little randomly off for visual interest!

Thanks all, gary i actually goofed up when lining up my spline jig, made a cut in scrap, and saw i needed to nudge the fence over a hair. so i nudged it a hair in the wrong direction and didnt realize it, woops. at least they are consistently off.
after the box was done i actually kind of liked them being off a little bit
