I wanted to make one of these for a while now and I also wanted to make it functional. The idea of a keyring holder came up. I used a marble to keep the size manageable for a keyring holder and I used Meranti from an old door post to make the block.

The marble that I got is about 16 mm and I drilled the holes 14mm. The first try broke as the block was a bit small (25 mm).

On the second try I increased the block size by 10mm to make a 35mm block which worked out quite well. Unfortunately I don’t have a 14mm Forstner bit and had to use a spade bit which makes the holes a bit rough.

I epoxied the pin that attached the keyring for strength. I didn’t put any finish on it yet as I want the block to dry out for a few days before putting the finish on.

Thanks for looking.

Nice George. When you want a smaller one than first make a 35 block and when it,s finished than sand it back to 25 mm.
