This was my first commision after finishing my two year diploma course. The clients supplied the timber and the overall sizes, the rest was left to me. If you have seen rough sawn red beech its not very inspiring but from the first draw saw cut and wonderfull floral smell that came from it I was hooked. It is made to look like two small drawers but is only one to make it a more useable size. I love the way the light changes the look at the front of the drawer and top of the legs. During the making of this peice there was sadly a Air New Zealand plane crash and this inspired part of the design and just goes to show how your work can change with your emotions as you go. If asked now what would i change about it I could honestly say nothing but that I wish I had kept it.
